The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia
The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi, have been under development since the year 1882. Barcelona’s breathtaking expiatory temple is now in its final stage of construction. The design of the cathedral is instilled with hierarchically arranged Christian symbolism. As a result, each of the 18 towers has a specific significance. The process of completion is challenging due to the fact that Gaudí’s original models and plans were destroyed during the Civil War of 1936, yet through the years a group of architects collaborate to figure out his intentions. The Sagrada Familia is estimated to be finished in 2026, in honor of the 100th death anniversary of Gaudi. See also The Grand Mosque: Sheikh Zayed.
