Gobekli Tepe: World’s Oldest Temple

The discovery of the world’s oldest temple, Gobekli Tepe, changed the view of archaeologists on the origins of civilization. Located at the mountain ridge within the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, the historical site predates England’s Stonehenge, Egyptian Pyramids and Malta temples by thousands of years. First excavated by a German archaeological team in 1995, excavator Klaus Schmidt think that the ancient structure had been an early sanctuaries of Neolithic Age.     Gobeklitepe is near the Syrian border where there’s an ongoing civil war which scaring away visitors.

    The megalithic structures present animals like the boar and fox along with other domesticated animals, still it was created more than 12,000 years ago, so there has to be so much more into the history of mankind than we will ever start to understand.
