Syria is now the world’s largest humanitarian disaster and most dangerous geopolitical zone. In five years of civil war, over 400,000 Syrian people have been killed and 10 million left homeless. All parties to the turmoil – President Bashar al-Assad’s government, the anti-Assad opposition and its allies and the Islamic State who are notorious for beheading both soldiers and civilians- have committed serious war crimes.     The war in Syria and Northern Iraq becomes a single war now. It’s not even clear whether Syria still exists as a country looking at that different parts are controlled by different groups.
