The Martian: How Not To Die in Mars

If humanity wants to put a human settlement on Mars, NASA will need all kinds of support from the government, private sector and the general public. In the movie “The Martian,” Matt Damon plays an astronaut stranded on the desolate surface of the red planet after being presumed dead. Matt must survive the harsh martian environment and try not to die on Mars. This graphic examine the science behind the film as if it were an actual NASA mission.

    The Martian soil has perchlorate which is poisonous so the growing of potatoes seem impossible.

      The film skipped some details like cleaning the soil to get rid of any toxic mineral contents. Also, mars soil contains a lot of nitrate(a very good fertilizer) that Watney may have not needed to mix his poop with the soil.
