Nintendo’s Mario may not be the first platform game, but it’s by far the most successful gaming franchise on the planet. Super Mario Bros’ massive world, filled with colorful characters and hidden secrets, inspired many action-adventure games that launched after it. This console game created several sequels, comic books, merchandising, TV shows and even a movie.
