Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was Abu Dhabi’s most famous landmark. This architectural masterpiece is one of the largest mosques in the world, with a capacity of around 40,000 worshipers. Designed with both modern and classic Islamic styles, it features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24 carat gold covered chandeliers and the world’s biggest hand knotted carpet. The Gulf News came out with a beautiful infographic that explains how the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of U.A.E. was built. Douglas Okasaki accurately illustrate its scale, richness and beauty.
